Agile, from first chat to live software
Every project at Hey iO is run the agile way: we build in short sprints, show you working software at the end of each one, and decide together what comes next. You stay involved, you see progress every couple of weeks, and the most valuable work is always done first.
First Conversation
We start by getting to know your business, your goals and what’s getting in the way. We talk through your ideas, who will use the software, what success looks like, and a realistic budget and timescale.
Planning and Backlog
We turn what you need into a prioritised backlog: a list of features written from your users’ point of view, with the most valuable first. We agree the first release, how long each sprint will be (usually two weeks) and how we’ll keep in touch.
Design and Prototypes
We sketch screens and build clickable prototypes so you can try ideas before they’re built. Designs are done a little ahead of each sprint and refined with your feedback, so they never hold the build up.
Development in Sprints
We build in short sprints. Each one starts by picking the top items from the backlog and ends with a demo of working software. You can change priorities between sprints as you learn what your users need, without starting over.
Testing Throughout
Testing isn’t left to the end. Every feature is tested as it’s built, with automated tests and code reviews, and your team tries each sprint’s work before it’s called done.
Regular Releases
We put working software live early and keep releasing, rather than saving everything for one big launch. We set releases up so each one is quick and repeatable, and we train your team as features arrive.
Post-Launch Support
Our relationship doesn’t end at launch. We keep your software monitored, updated and secure, fix issues quickly, and keep a backlog of improvements based on what your users tell you, ready for the next sprint.

For new products or services, developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is crucial. This involves identifying core features, creating a basic functional version, launching it to select users for feedback, and refining it based on that feedback and data.
